Retired senior Kent police detective Brian Flood was the easy winner of Dover Rotary Club’s annual quiz, held on 4th January at the Ramada Dover Hotel, Whitfield.
Mr Flood, vice chairman of Dover Transport Museum, scored 13 correct answers to the twenty questions set by quizmaster Terry Sutton who has run the annual competition for the last ten years. His questions ranged from which English monarch was the first from the House of Tudor (Henry VII), the year of the fatal Crypt fire in Bench Street (1977), and who officially opened the A2 Jubilee Way (Peter Rees, then Dover MP).
The club president Dave Smith congratulated Rotarian Peter Sherred on the organisation of a pre-Christmas celebration at St Mary-in-the-Castle.
Club members were invited to a gathering of Rotarians from Cinque Port towns to be held on Romney Marsh on January 18.
